JSC Freight One Increased Amounts of Coal and Coal Coke Transportation to Europe
In March 2019 the increase in the amount of coal and coke coal transported by Saint Petersburg Branch of Joint Stock Company Freight One (JSC Freight One) comprised 15% as compared with the similar period of the previous year, reaching 474 thousand tons. Maximum increase was demonstrated by the amounts of coal coke transported to Baltic states and Europe. By 9.5 times more cargoes or 26 thousand tons were transported in the gondola cars provided by JSC Freight One in Oktyabrskaya and Kaliningrad Railways. The amount of coal transportation increased by 10% reaching 448 thousand tons.
Pavel Sitalo, Director of Saint Petersburg Branch of JSC Freight One commented saying, “transportation of coal across the territory of Finland becomes still more demanded. It was only this March that we transported 7.5 thousand tons of raw materials via Kivijärvi railway station of Oktyabrskaya Railway. A substantial flow of cargoes is also transported to Europe via the terminal of Kandalaksha sea port. Within a month the amount of transportation of this kind of cargo exceeded 42 thousand tons. In order to provide for a faster supply of railcars for loading, we developed together with the sea port the technology and procedure for formation of exit routes”.
In particular, the exit routes consisting of the gondola cars supplied after unloading of coal from them are formed together with Kandalaksha commercial sea port since this February. The exit routes are directed for loading of the iron ore to the address of the Karelsky Okatysh Mine company. Due to application of the above technology the rolling stock turnover is decreased on average by 1 day in every direction and the expenses for its relocation are reduced due to applying a discount for the tariff.
In general, during this March Saint Petersburg Branch of Joint Stock Company Freight One (JSC Freight One) increased the amounts of transportation of coal and coal coke by 12% as compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching 502 thousand tons. The freight turnover increased by 8% reaching 2.3 billion tkm. At that the amount of transportation within the territory of Russia decreased by 2.5 times reaching 16 thousand tons..
